Trenchless Pipe Laying – A New way of Drilling.
Underground Boring is a non invasive procedure to install conduits underground that will later be used for phone, gas, Television, power or water. Initially directional drilling engineered by the oil industry in the United States, this specific method is now generally used for almost all pressure pipes underneath major obstacles such as freeways, huge rivers, air-port runways and so on. A steerable drill bit of 90mm diameter is launched from the surface at 10′ -15′ and makes a pilot hole. This is followed by a 125mm washover pipe. After completion, the pilot string is actually extracted and a rotating barrel reamer moves back along the washover pipe. Subsequent reaming continues right until the actual necessary size is actually obtained. Drives of more than 1000 metres and upward to one metre in diameter have also been carried out.
